Parentage concerns the parent, mother, father, or originator of an entity. Direct parents - those entities whose energies have created a new spirit or person - and adoptive parents - those who take in a spirit or person as their child - both have roles in Otherfaith spirit relationships. Some spirits may be without direct parentage, having been created from natural events or simply manifesting into being out of 'nothing'.

A spirit's direct parents often do not interact with their offspring. It is common for spirit children to be raised in community homes run by caretaker spirits until they grow old enough to be on their own. Spirits often form their own small family groups through adoption and friendship.

the Dierne and her White Court are especially dismissive of their offspring.
